James Dondero was recently appointment to the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business Board. James Dondero’s new board position expands Highland Capital’s already strong commitment to SMU.
The SMU Cox Executive Board consists of about 100 appointed members, most of whom are non-academics, who advise on the strategy of the business school. The Executive Board meets three times a year—in the fall, winter and spring.

James Dondero is the newest appointee to the SMU’s Cox School of Business board of executives. Joining the board, James will only be expanding and solidifying his already strong and commitment to SMU that includes the support of the Highland Capital Tower Scholars endowment project.

In a recent article by PR Newswire, it tells of how cofounder and president of Highland Capital Management, L.P., James Dondero has a positive influence to those involved in the Dallas community. The article discusses Dondero’s challenge of matching 50 percent, up to 1 million, to all the funds raised in the capital campaign. This contribution shows the positive work of Dondero in his work as a philanthropist.
Dondero’s contribution, which goes to the Family Place in Dallas, an organization that supports victims of family violence, addresses his concern and generosity in helping develop a safe community in Dallas. The article further discusses how Dondero’s donation along with others in the community will help build a Counseling Center. By showing his support for the community and families in need, Dondero, as the article demonstrates, is an individual who is becoming more recognized for his positive influence.

James Dondero (pictured below) and Highland Capital Management has put up a 1 million dollar challange grant to help The Family Place complete their new facility. James went on to say that “Highland Capital will pitch in 50 cents for every dollar given to the charity through April 4”.

NexPoint Residential Trust found a new investor in James Dondero. He purchased upwards of seven thousand additional shares of the stock. This is a great show of faith in NexPoint Residential Trust’s future. NexPoint Residential Trust is a Real Estate Investment Trust centered in Dallas, TX.

James Dondero recently chose to partner with The Dallas Foundation due to their long experience working with other not-for-profit agencies in the North Texas community. Such a partnership was necessary for Highland Dallas Foundation to be able to enhance sustainability in other nongovernmental organizations that were focused on improving the status of their communities.
